Privacy Policy

Last updated 5 September 2026

Thuso schedules and records the cleaning of short-stay properties. It is used by three kinds of people — hosts who own the properties, cleaners who do the work, and guests who stay there — and it holds different information about each. This page says what it holds, why, and who can see it.

What we collect

From hosts: name, phone number, email address, and the details of each property you add — its address, the rooms in it, photographs of it, and how to get in. Where you connect a listing, we also copy its title and photographs so a cleaner has something to work from.

From cleaners: name, phone number, optionally an email address, and the record of the work — which cleans were taken, when each step was marked done, the arrival walk-through video, and the photographs taken as proof.

From guests: nothing at all unless you send a message. The guest page needs no account, no login and no app. If you ask for a clean, more towels or report a problem, that message goes to your host.

What we do not collect

We do not track anyone’s location. The app asks for no location permission on either Android or iOS, and does not record where a cleaner is. Properties have map coordinates because a host typed an address, not because a phone was followed.

We do not read your contacts, your calendar, your messages or your photo library. The camera and photo permissions exist so you can take and attach photographs of a property or a clean, and are used for nothing else.

We do not sell anything to anybody, and we do not run advertising.

Messages we send

Thuso notifies people about their own work — a clean assigned, a reminder on the day, a turnover finished. These arrive as an app notification where possible, and by WhatsApp or SMS where a phone has no app signed in, because a cleaner who is never told about a clean cannot do it.

We keep a record of each message and what the network reported back about it, so a message that failed can be seen and resent. If you reply on WhatsApp, that reply is placed in the conversation for that clean, where your host and cleaner can read it.

You can stop these by replying STOP to a text, or by turning notifications off on your phone.

Who can see what

A cleaner sees the properties they have been given work at, and the way in is released only on the day of the clean — not before.

A host sees their own properties and the work done at them, including the proof photographs and the walk-through video.

Where a host uses a cleaning company, that company sees the cleans it has been given and who it assigned to them. It does not see a host’s other properties.

Thuso staff can see what is needed to run the service and to answer support requests.

Where it is kept, and for how long

Data is held on servers in Europe and is not sold or shared with advertisers. We use processors to do specific jobs: Meta for WhatsApp messages, our SMS gateways for text messages, Google Firebase for app notifications, and our email provider for email. Each receives only what that message needs.

Arrival walk-through videos are deleted automatically a short time after a clean is settled, because their purpose has passed. Proof photographs and the record of a clean are kept while your account is open, so a dispute months later can still be answered.

Your choices

You can see and correct your details in the app at any time. You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to delete your account and its data, by writing to the address below. Where a record must be kept for tax or legal reasons we will say so rather than quietly retain it.

Children

Thuso is not intended for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will say so in the app rather than only editing this page.
